OUR HISTORY

Davao Language Academy was founded in 2015 by a Filipino woman who spent 28 years in Japan as a graduate student and an English language and international studies educator. Before pursuing her post-graduate studies in Japan, she worked as an ESL and cultural trainer at a refugee camp in the Philippines. There, she taught English and Culture to Indochinese refugees preparing them for resettlement in the U.S.. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of cross-cultural communication laid the foundation for the academy's mission to provide high-quality language education.

Initially, the academy focused on teaching English to students from Japan and the Philippines, quickly gaining a reputation for excellence and attracting a diverse student body eager to improve their language skills for personal and professional growth.

In 2018, recognizing the increasing demand for Japanese language education and the growing opportunities for Filipinos in Japan, we expanded our curriculum to include a comprehensive Japanese language program. This expansion allowed us to offer specialized training that prepares Filipino students for employment opportunities in Japan, addressing the country's need for a skilled workforce.

Today, Davao Language Academy continues to innovate and grow. By integrating with Godins Cacao, we have created a unique educational experience that combines language learning with practical, hands-on training in cacao farming and chocolate-making. Our commitment to fostering cultural exchange, enhancing language proficiency, and contributing to the local economy remains at the core of everything we do.
